Ways of Living
Series of photographs taken in De Meyboom, a social housing block in Eindhoven, to investigate how different people create their own living environment out of the same standardised space. Built in 1968 and spread over 10 floors the block consists of 120 bedsits, 40 of which have an additional room. Despite structurally being the same each flat adopts its own character and becomes a reflection of its resident. Focusing on details within the flats, the photos give an insight into the background of the residents, their daily lives and how they improvise in a small space. De Meyboom was due for demolition in October 2008.
